EXPECTED RESULTS
- Increased capacity of countries to use the NDCs implementation tracking tools and indexes ensured.
- Improved capacity of the Focal Persons and Champions to collect, analyze, and interpret NDC data and be able to use it to make informed policy and programmatic decisions.
- Increased strategic partnerships and effective pressure on the government and relevant institutions to prioritize NDCs implementation.
KEY ACTIVITIES
The project is being implemented by ATPS & Partners through the following activities:
- Conduct key stakeholder mapping & analyses around climate change and NDC implementation to identify the six focal persons and climate champions in each country.
- Development of a Training of Trainers (ToT) Training Manual for training the Focal Persons and Champions in the application of the NDC tracking tools and indexes.
- Work with the trained Focal Persons and Champions to collect NDC-relevant data and develop country-specific indexes.
- Organize regional policy dialogue and dissemination workshop with stakeholders.
- Develop and host an online countries’ NDC implementation index that is updated annually.
ACHIEVEMENTS
- Conducted inception meeting and project launch with the ACCF team.
- Established project steering committee and conducted project sensitization across the 12 participating countries namely: Botswana, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe
- Received ‘No Objection Letters’ from Governments in all the 12 participating countries.
- Conducted desk studies on stakeholder mapping & analyses in the 12 countries.
- Developing the NDC tracking tool Training Manual.
